DOE JE DING: Toolkit to stimulate youth volunteering DOE JE DING (Dutch for Do Your Thing) began as a collaborative project to identify new possibilities for increasing instances of youth with diverse cultural backgrounds to volunteer. This project saw a large number of local stakeholders coming together for the first time, with my role as a designer to bring their diverse expertise and experience into the project. After a number of design research and co-design workshops, Lotte van Wulfften Palthe (StudioLVWP) joined me to design DOE JE DING. A toolkit for youth to explore things they like, and transform them into "things to do". In essence, the youth are creating their own volunteering experiences which are sometimes for the benefit of their peers, and sometimes for the benefit of others. During 2015-2016 DYNAMO Youth Centre of Eindhoven brought the toolkit to life with a pilot project. They reached with youth from diverse backgrounds and with DOE JE DING toolkit the youth worked to create their own experiences. The project saw youth creating special events for elderly people, initiating and implementing Eindhoven's first longboard event, cooking and preparing a meal for a multi-cultural centre, children activities, fundraised for refugees, and countless other great initiatives. You can find more information about the project on their website and facebook page. Photos below from Dynamo's Doe Je Ding Facebook Page Back to PROJECTS
